.......that ballroom dancing
isn’t just something to do for fun?
It’s also a great way to get into
shape!
Whether you
want to lose a few pounds, tone up
or overcome those aching joints,
ballroom is the perfect workout.
A student
from the Fred Astaire Studio in
Jupiter, FL started
ballroom as
a way to overcome Osteo Arthritis!
She was diagnosed at the age of 8
with this painful disease. At the
age of 27, she was diagnosed with
Symphatic
Dystrophy and also suffered a
stroke. After suffering with her
pain for 18+ years, she took up
ballroom dancing in April 2008.
By June of
2008, she was completely pain free
for the first time in 24+ years!
So as you see, ballroom is
not only fun– it’s also very
therapeutic!!
Competitions
COMPETITION? Did someone say
competition?
Do we have
competitions for you this year!!
Some of you
may get those butterflies in your
stomach or swear off competitions
thinking they are too overwhelming
for you! Well, we’re here to tell
you– RELAX!! Ms. Debby
always
suggests that everyone go to a
competition as a spectator before
taking one on as a competitor!
It’s good
advice and a wonderful way to
support your
fellow
ballroomers!
It also
gives you a chance to see how they
work and the supportive atmosphere
that surrounds the competition.
Join us on
our next
excursion
and see for yourself how fun the
experience can be!!
Our next competition is
February 7-10 at the amazing
Atlantis resort in the beautiful
Bahamas!
Our very own
Joe-Joe and his student Missy Keller
will be competing and will be
accompanied by Ms. Debby.
(Chaperone??? Hmmm…that’s
interesting!!)
Joe and
Missy have been working tirelessly
in their preparation for this
amazing opportunity!
Be sure to
wish them well and to watch out for
sharks (and I don’t mean on the
dance floor!!)
Merde, Joe &
Missy!
At the end of February, The
Grove Park Inn, Asheville,
will be the
site of the
Heritage
Competition.
Don’t miss
this fun filled weekend at a
beautiful resort nestled in the
mountains of NC! See Ms. Debby for
more info!
March 13-15– South Central

Championships and Freddy Ball!
